Groton is a great place to fish in Groton, CT
My older brother used a brand new fishing pole like this when we went fishing.
This was the type of fishing pole that I've used.
Tolland, CT
I
will never forget the time me and my older brother went fishing in 1985. When
you get used to being in church from the time you were a baby you also get used
to the different people who attend the same church you do. You call them
"brother" John or Ed or "Sister Hope or Evelyn for example. I
remember the fishing experience me and my older brother had with Brother Ed who
also attended The Full Gospel Interdenominational Church. This church have been
referenced a lot in my past, counting this one being 4 journals. The Full
Gospel Interdenominational Church brings back a lot of good memories for me as
a child. Growing up around a lot of diversity was such a wonderful experience
for me! I remember Brother Ed came by our house in Hartford and picked us up in
his truck. I remember my older brother and I rode with Brother Ed up front
inside the truck and his chocolate lab dog rode in the back of the truck. My
brother would have a really nice fishing reel and rod that he would fish with
and Brother Ed made up a really cool fishing pole for me (the old fashioned
way) by breaking off a tree branch and tying a string to it and attaching the
bait to it. By the looks of things it didn't look like I would catch any fish
maybe one or two the most with what I had for a fishing pole. We all had went
to Groton to fish (brother Ed watched me and my older brother for a little bit
at that time I caught like 2 or 3 fishes and my older brother was catching sea
weeds and rocks). Brother Ed went back to the truck and decided to take his
chocolate lab dog for a walk.
Meanwhile,
I am catching big fishes with my branch pole while my older brother is having
little success catching fishes with his fishing pole. We were fishing for a
couple of hours and my brother couldn't believe that he wasn't catching fish
with his brand new fishing pole. We were both having fun fishing in Groton! I
think when it was all over my older brother finally caught 3 fishes. The final
count was that I caught the same amount of fish as my older brother's age which was that being 11 (big fishes) and my older brother 11 only caught 3 (little fishes). Brother
Ed, my older brother, and me were all laughing at that because it was kind of
funny! Brother Ed took us to his mom's house in Tolland and once we all got out
of the truck the chocolate lab dog that came with us on the fishing trip
greeted Brother Ed's mom. Brother Ed cleaned all 14 fishes and cooked them and
we all had fish sandwiches and Brother Ed's mom gave me a honey bun (Honey buns were huge I could only eat half at the time). We all had
fun hanging out with brother Ed and his family and we were telling the same
story how my older brother caught 3 fishes with his brand new fishing pole
while I caught 11 fishes with a branch as a fishing pole to brother Ed's mom,
LOL!
